Optional Tour of IBHS Research Center*
(no charge)
The IBHS research center is a state-of-the-art, multirisk, applied
research facility in Chester County, SC, about 45 minutes
south of the Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The center
enables researchers to test full-scale residential and commercial
building specimens and systems. Testing programs involve
highly realistic replications of real-world, potentially disastrous
events, such as high winds, wind-driven rain, hail, and wildfires.
The IBHS influences residential and commercial structural
design and construction. IBHS is part of the Roofing Industry
Committee on Weather Issues, Inc., (RICOWI) and advocates
strongly to influence regulations and legislation.
The IBHS
Research Center has expressed interest in working with the
metal construction industry.
*Please note that participation in this tour requires an additional night’s stay at
a hotel near Richburg, SC, on June 26 and a departing flight on June 27 out of
Charlotte Douglas International Airport. |
