2025 MCA SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS

MARRISSA AUBREY

Sobotec Ltd, Hamilton, ON, Canada

This recent high school graduate will take part in a 2-year program to earn a diploma in welding and fabrication in 2027 from Fanshawe College in London, ON, Canada.

Marrissa has experience from her high school manufacturing shop and a co-op placement that saw her “designing and constructing specific projects using welding, fabricating, and grinding techniques. While completing the physical project, Marrissa utilized software programs such as AutoCAD, Inventor and Fusion 360 for designing purposes. Marrissa was commended for her dedication, eagerness to work and learn, and trustworthy with delicate tasks,” her teacher said.

The diploma Marissa will earn will help her pursue her dream: “to one day start my own custom fabrication company. In making my own custom fabrication and welding company I would be able to use my creative ideas to design and fulfill orders.”

The University of Kentucky is the next stop for this recent high school graduate who will seek her bachelor’s degree in law and justice with an expected graduation date in 2029. Alex has earned a 3.9 GPA and honors (including the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Beta Club) while participating in Student Council and the Future Business Leaders of America. Her teacher praised her, saying, “Alex works hard to achieve her goals all the while fulfilling responsibilities as a student, family member, and overall individual.”

“My career goal is to become an attorney focusing on family law,” she said, citing a positive experience with a family law lawyer when she was young. “My desire is to provide families with affordable legal services so that any family can afford my services regardless of their socioeconomic status. My goal is to provide children with a stable and supportive environment as their family begins to navigate the uncertainties and challenges of transformation.”

ALEXANDRIA ENNIS

CIDAN Machinery, Peachtree City, GA

KIERAN O’SHEA

S-5! in Colorado Springs, CO

Kieran has had his sights set on mechanical engineering since childhood. Now that he has completed high school, he’ll seek his degree from Adams State University in Alamosa, CO, with an expected 2029 graduation date.

“I am specifically interested in the automotive side of engineering and how I can make vehicles safer and more efficient,” Kieran explained. “I want to contribute by designing and improving automotive systems that reduce emissions, enhance fuel efficiency and improve safety. The automotive industry is undergoing a major transformation with electric and self-driving vehicles, so I think it's a great time to be part of this innovation.”

College should be a breeze considering how expertly Kieran has balanced academic success (including Honor roll, varsity academic awards, and National Honor Society) with sports, clubs, volunteering, and working part-time.

A college student at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX, Aniya expects to graduate with a BSN in nursing in 2028. Caring for her grandfather and great-grandmother as they experienced health challenges fostered in Aniyah her desire to help others the way she saw nurses caring for her loved ones: “The career I am pursuing is nursing, and my ultimate aspiration is to become a nurse practitioner, specializing in either pediatrics or obstetrics.”

Aniyah ably excelled in academics (honor roll) with athletic training and community service in a nursing home. “I am a persistent student, and I have always been driven to learn and grow,” she said. “Throughout my academic journey, I have consistently sought opportunities to volunteer in medical settings, whether through hospital internships or community health outreach programs. These experiences have allowed me to learn from healthcare professionals, gain exposure to various aspects of the field, and further solidify my passion for nursing.”

ANIYAH ROSS

McElroy Metal, Bossier City, LA

ISABELLA TRAUGER

Lorin Industries, Muskegon, MI

Isabella is seeking a master’s in business administration at Moravian University in Bethlehem, PA, where she has a 4.0 GPA.

She expects to secure her MBA in 2027 with an eye to becoming director of operations in a top-tier healthcare organization. She possesses “a keen interest in healthcare, along with a commitment to improving patient quality of care while working towards ensuring that operations are as efficient as possible.”

Her passion for health care began as a child because she “spent a lot of time in hospitals because of several medical conditions. Although such experiences gave me jitters initially, there was in due course the realization that I have an innate gratitude for the skills and nurturance I got from medical helpers. For all these professionals, winning my fear and converting it into trust left an impression on me hard enough that I wished to be a part of the profession one day.”
